AVENTURA BREAST DIAGNOSTIC CENTER
The Aventura Breast Diagnostic Center is a fully accredited center provideing a full spectrum of breast services. We offer a board-certified fellowship trained radiologist specializing in breast care. Our goal is to provide you, the patient, with excellent technical skills in a patient-friendly atmosphere. At our center, we offer convenient and flexible scheduling and complimentary valet parking.
The Breast Diagnostic Center offers patients the following services:
- Screening Mammography
- Diagnostic Mammography
- Core Biopsy (Stereotactic and Ultrasound)
- Cyst Aspiration
- Ultrasound
- Galactograms
- Needle Localizations

RADIATION ONCOLOGY DEPARTMENT
The Aventura Radiation Oncology Department offers the latest in radiation treatment including IMRT. IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy) is the latest technicological breakthrough in cancer care. Considered to be the next revolution in cancer care, it is the treatment of choice for a wide range of cancers.
The Radiation Oncology Department offers patients a full spectrum of services including:
- IMRT(Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy)
- 3D Conformal Treatment
- Brachytherapy (HDR - coming Fall, 2002, Seed Implantation)
We offer board-certified radiation oncologists, the latest equipment, and the standard and latest treatment modalities. You, the patient, are our number one priority. Free valet parking is offered to all patients undergoing treatment.
SUPPORT GROUPS/EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
The Aventura Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks to treat not just the disease but the whole person - mind, body and spirit. This multidisciplinary approach to cancer care is patient-centered and family-oriented. Caregivers are sensitive to the unique needs of the individual.
Several psychosocial services are offered in order to address the psychological needs of patients are their families. These services include a wide variety of support groups and educational programs in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, as well as a resource library containing literature to assist the patient in gathering information.
Numerous educational resources and programs enable patients and their families to understand the disease process and to make informed choices about the course of treatment.
RESEARCH
The headquarters of the Columbia Cancer Research Network (CCRN) are located in the Cancer Center, as well. CCRN is a hospital-based research organization, focusing on various research protocols, which address various disease processes. CCRN affords the cancer patient the opportunity to participate in clinical trials specific to their diagnosis.
